DNA molecule

DNA is the molecule that encodes genetic information. In humans and other higher organisms, a DNA molecule consists of two strands, made of sugar and phosphate molecules connected by rungs of nitrogen containing chemicals called bases. The 3 billion base pairs in the Human Genome was sequenced in 2000, unleashing a flood of new information and activity in the biotech industry.
