Lyle J. Palmer, PhD

Scientific Credentials
Dr. Palmer is a genetic epidemiologist with interests in both methodological development in genetic statistics and applied genetics research with a focus on asthma and allergy. His background includes training in clinical epidemiology, quantitative genetics and biostatistics. He has over 50 publications, holds multiple grants, and has strong consulting experience in private industry. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Busselton Population Research Foundation, and has been a Principal Analyst for the International Consortium on Asthma Genetics since 1999.

Dr. Palmer undertook graduate training jointly in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Western Australia and in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine and Green College at the University of Oxford, receiving his PhD in Pediatrics in 1998. From 1998-1999 he undertook postdoctoral training under Professor Paul Burton at the Institute for Child Health Research in Perth, Western Australia. From 1999-2000 he undertook further postdoctoral training under Professor Robert Elston at Case Western Reserve University and Professor Scott Weiss at Harvard University. He has recently been appointed to the faculty of Harvard Medical School, and is Director of Statistical Genomics for an NIH Genome Resource Center for Heart, Lung and Blood Disease at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He has a growing interest in pharmacogenetics and is involved in multiple gene discovery programs in the US, UK and Australia for asthma, parasite resistance, fetal growth regulation, cardiovascular disease, and type 1 diabetes. He was a National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia graduate medical scholar and postdoctoral fellow. His graduate research was recognized by 9 national and international awards, and in 1999/2000 he was both a Fulbright Fellow and a Churchill Fellow at Case Western Reserve and Harvard Universities.

Position in Triaj
Dr. Palmer, co-founder, is the Chairman of Triaj. He has been responsible for the genesis and for the development of the structural organization for Triaj. During the initial phases of Triaj's development he will hold the position of interim CEO and have responsibility for Triaj's day-to- day operation. He will also be responsible for the recruitment and eventual oversight of consultants in the field of genetic epidemiology.
